Just posted an article about strategic planning and execution over at Practical Ecommerce and I thought I mention it here so that you can check it out.
The gist of it is that – don’t keep your front line employees in the dark. They’re the ones that work with customers day in and day out representing your company. Don’t make them feel like they are the last to know what’s going on and then expected to carry out the marching orders from the top. (With a Smile)
I go into it a little more on the article. I hope you will have a chance to read it and by all means leave a comment there, leave a comment here and more importantly, I hope it induces you to think about how you develop and execute on your company’s strategic planning.
I’m so excited, I can hardly contain myself. Today, Dan Thies and I launched Ecommerce Fast Start. We’ve been talking about collaborating on a project like this for years. He wanted to call it ShirleyNet, but I talked him out of it. Instead, we agreed on “Ecommerce Fast Start” because it is in alignment with his goals in his book Seo Fast Start which is now on its 10th edition.
I’m off to Yahoo Summit 2010 in Santa Clara, Ca right now and can’t get into further details, but I’ll be sure to come back to explain further our goals of helping ecommerce entrepreneur put their ecommerce business on the fast track with our Ecommerce Fast Start Project. (The blog is still work-in-progress, but check in next week to get more checklist to help you run your business while keeping your sanity in-tact.)
